Founder and Organizer
Mr. Shannon started Southeast Community Day Parade and Festival in 1991 to bring forth positivity and community. It continues to be one of the largest parades in the city of Newport News, Virginia and attracts multitudes annually along with his other events including The Andrew Shannon Feeding 5000 and The Andrew Shannon Gospel Music Celebration. Southeast Community Day is also know by the community as the East End Parade and it continues to bring a spirit of happiness to the Newport News Virginia community.
Shannon is celebrating over 30 years of service to humanity and towards Building A Stronger Community.

This year's Presidential Reception Keynote speaker will be Pastor Willard G. Maxwell, Jr.
Gloria L. "Dr. Glo" Howell, Ph.D. will serve as the Presidential Reception Guest Speaker. Howell is the Director of the Neal-Marshall Black Culture Center at Indiana University Bloomington
The Presidential Reception will feature an evening of dining, music, and recognition honoring the 2026 Southeast Community Day Parade and Festival Honorees.
